I recently got admitted to the AMU with suspected tonsillitis & I’ve never felt as sick in a long, long time. My anxiety that I suffer with was at an all time high, as every parent does I was missing my babies and worried how they were whilst I was kept here.
Long story short, one nurse in particular, Nichola, found ways to make me feel safe, she was always in checking up on me seeing to my every need, she also somehow managed amongst all my pain to make me laugh on more than once occasion, which cannot be taken for granted on a serious environment like hospital...this probably meant the most to me.
She made me feel so at ease and less scared and just so reassured as often as she could do. Someone like this is essential to the nursing world, someone you can see loves her job and loves really taking care of her patients. She went above and beyond really, and it’s people like her who give the NHS a better name.
My only wish is everyone had a nurse Nichola on their stay 💗. So if you ever do see this Nichola, thank you so so much for absolutely everything. x
"A fantastic nurse"
