About: Lagan Valley Hospital / Lisburn Phlebotomy Hub

(as a service user),

I was saddened to hear yesterday when I was attending for a blood test that this unit (Phlebotomy Unit Ballinderry Road Lisburn) was being moved to the Lagan Valley complex.

As a regular user I have found this unit to be very efficient with friendly courteous staff and in a matter of 15 minutes I'm on my way home again. In view of the fact that it has only just recently been refurbed and that the Lagan Valley complex is virtually impossible to get into or even worse out of assuming you can get a parking space.

I travel 7 miles on a route that doesn't have public transport so I need access to parking and I do not enjoy playing roulette to get off the complex and across the Hillsborough Road.

My name is Nial. I am an Experience & Involvement Facilitator within the South Eastern HSC Trust, and part of that role includes responding to any person who tells their story through Care Opinion. Due to the recent retirement of the service manager for Phlebotomy Hubs who normally is designated to respond to stories like yours, I am posting a response until new responder(s) are designated and trained to do so.

I would like to thank you for taking the time to share your experience with the Phlebotomy Hub at Ballinderry Road. The Phlebotomy team always strive to be efficient while delivering friendly and courteous care which I am glad is what you have experienced.

Thank you for your comments on the recent relocation of the Lisburn Phlebotomy Clinic.

I appreciate your concerns regarding the parking facilities within the Lagan Valley Hospital site and the decision of relocating the Phlebotomy Clinic was made following a wider service review aimed at consolidating resources and ensuring sustainable delivery of Phlebotomy Services across the South Eastern Trust region.

The first 30 minutes of parking within the Lagan Valley Hospital site are free and Phlebotomy patients are able to avail of this.

We will continue to provide an efficient service and deliver a high standard of care to our patients.
