"Removal of a breast lump"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Breast Clinic University Hospital Wishaw / Day Surgery

(as a service user),

Spoke to my GP regarding a breast lump I had previously had investigated but had recently noticed changes in. Was referred to the breast clinic at Wishaw General Hospital within 10 days where I had a mammogram and ultrasound and biopsy all in the same afternoon.

Within another 10 days I had an appt with the consultant, who explained that this particular lump should be removed because they can sometimes contain pre-cancerous cells.

Was given a cancellation appt two weeks later and received excellent care in the day surgery ward. Very very impressed and grateful for the wonderful service and staff of the NHS.

Everything was explained really well throughout and the systems in place worked really well. I felt really well looked after and in safe hands which is what you need when you’re in this situation.

Can’t thank everyone enough.

Dear Shudderpm65,

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback for the staff within Day Surgery at University Hospital Wishaw.

It can be a very worrying time having to attend hospital so I am pleased to read that you had a good experience overall and the care you received was excellent.

I will be sure to pass on your kind words to the staff team at our next brief and I hope you are recovering well at home.

Best Wishes

Jen

Dear Shudderpm65

Thank you so much for taking the time to send in such positive comments which I will share with the staff involved.

I am glad that you felt that this was a smooth and supportive experience - we strive in the breast team to ensure that this is the case for all of our patients, as we understand that it is a very worrying and difficult time.

Take care.
