"I had a very positive experience"

About: Maternity care / Community Midwifery Unit Maternity care / Labour Suite Maternity care / Maternity Assessment Unit

(as the patient),

I have no words to even express the thankfulness I feel towards the staff at Ninewells hospital Dundee.

The health care assistance, the doctors, nurses , midwives porters and students. I went into the midwife triage unit around mid April 2025 with fetal reduced movement at 39weeks pregnant, from there the care given was unmatched I’d say , I was in the labour unit ward and ward 38 south bays 1 and then 3.

When I went in 13years ago to have my son I had a very traumatic experience in the very same hospital and have spent my entire pregnancy this time dreading going back in and having to stay, I wish I’d had a dry run with the team before because what a complete and utter different experience this time around I can not thank any of the staff on shift throughout from start to finish when I was discharged with my new baby girl.

My baby’s heart rate was through the roof before being born and I believe part of being able to bring it back down was by me being calm and part of that was due to the team just being beyond amazing, my fiancé was also able to stay by my side the entire time I was there and he was treated just as amazing as me, making sure he always had a hot drink a comfy pillow and a slice of toast.

My own midwife Chloe has also again been outstanding throughout my pregnancy along with Charlie her student midwife , I was a high risk pregnancy due to the many complications with my first, and was also very anxious throughout but Chloe was always patient and went above and beyond out of her way to make sure I was always accommodated for as best she could.

I can not for the life of me remember the names of the staff on shift throughout, I believe a doctor named Sasha or Sashgia the main first doctor who completely reassured me on arrival that everything would be ok, Hannah , Sophie a second Hannah maybe?

The team who helped me deliver my baby on just Gas , Air and a bunch of patience as I was not for cooperating at one point due to the pain I was in, but again I managed to deliver my daughter pain relief free no stitches no rips and tears and that was the guidance and professional support from all involved.

I’m sure everything can be found in my notes which will have names of the whole team as I was overseen by many different faces , but met with the same love compassion and care .

I just again can’t thank any of those staff enough for everything I had a very positive experience and my care was second to none. The whole team should be rewarded and every patient that came in while i was there, difficult or not the team again just treated everyone the same gave us all the same love and care I’ll never be able to thank any of them enough for turning my extremely negative experiences into something so positive.

If any of you ladies get to read this or Infact the man doctor also who told me about my throat infection , please know how thankful I am for each and every one of you for everything over that weekend and know what an amazing job your doing what amazing people you are and how kind and gently your souls are and actually how bloody hilarious some of you are !.

Thank you!
