I was referred to Northampton Hospital by my GP -if there had been a long waiting list I would have waited to go there as Mr Auld (the surgeon) had been superb during my other hip operation. Mr Auld went through the consent form with me, explained about MRSA and the details of the operation. I had the utmost confidence in him and even decided to stay awake during the operation.
He was very meticulous, I noticed that he cleaned his hands for every patient he moved on to on his rounds. He also has a very nice manner and a good way of speaking to people.
Overall, I would like to thank all the staff including the theatre porters, who were very kind and helped to put me and other patients at ease. They are all responsible for my well being and speedy recovery.
I would also like to point out that the food at the hospital was excellent, it was like a 5* hotel!
In my opinion, we need less focus groups; we need to listen to the surgeons, ward sisters and nurses -they know what hospitals need. Give them a better pay and money for resources!
