"Excellent department"

About: Ninewells Hospital / Endoscopy Unit

(as the patient),

Blood found in the NHS test posted out, required colonoscopy.

Lucy who called from dept was excellent reassured me and answered all the questions I had.

Colonoscopy carried out at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee. From the moment I arrived reception was first class, taken promptly through to private room, nurse came, did usual test and questions.

Around 30 mins later was in theatre. Dr Levenson and the staff were outstanding, fully explained procedure and asked to lie on left side, was given option of sedation or gas and air, opted for latter but only had one puff as we were having a chat about daily things so relaxed, didn't even know camera all the way to appendix.

Had a couple of polyps removed, painless but so grateful nothing more sinister.

Then to recovery, where looked after with such compassion Morag the nurse was brilliant.

Around 40 mins later after recovery, dressed and discharged.

Honestly if you get test and need a colonoscopy get it done. Worse part is drink day before to cleanse the bowel. Advice during plenty water along with the prep.

Excellent department best I have had in Ninewells
