I was referred to a Social Prescriber at Highfields Surgery, during a particularly challenging period in which I was struggling with anxiety-related issues. I am extremely grateful for this referral, as this provided me with exceptional support and went above and beyond to help me. His guidance has been invaluable, and I cannot thank him enough.
I have felt that I was able to open more with the social prescriber that I was unable to with my GP.
Through the social prescriber’s holistic, person-centred approach, I have been able to regain a sense of control and direction in my life during a time when everything felt overwhelming, all without the need for anxiety-related medication.
In addition, it was nice to have someone to talk to due to my social isolation i had started to find it hard to interact socially. His support helped improve my confidence, and each interaction had a meaningful and positive impact. Through the consistent check-ins and encouragement, the social prescriber helped me to take small, manageable steps toward better mental health and heal my social and health related anxiety issues.
We worked on various coping strategies and mindfulness techniques whereby I have now ensured to incorporate into my daily life. For instance, we worked on elements of CBT, journaling negative thoughts as they arose and challenging them. Additionally, meeting in public settings helped me confront my social anxiety, gradually making me feel more at ease in social situations.
Looking back, I honestly don’t know where I’d be without this support. It has made such a difference to my mental health, and I feel so much more hopeful about the future. I wholeheartedly recommend the social prescriber at Highfields Surgery to anyone seeking support. His understanding, encouragement, and practical advice and techniques have truly been a lifeline for me.
