"Drs Nervous System"

About: Higham Hill Medical Centre

During my visit I noticed the Drs nervous system was very active, she was squinting, talking very fast and looked very uncomfortable.

As an ex social prescriber, I felt concerned for her wellbeing.

I’m aware they only have 10mins with each individual, appts back to back.

To experience the pressure of such a short timeframe in which to fully hear and support each individuals needs and more importantly advocate for their own needs for space, consideration and self care - is unrealistic.

The surgery is a space where individuals connect and the shared human need for harmony and wellbeing, is prevented by a stress inducing expectation of deliverables in 10mins.

I request a review of this time alloted, considering a list of vital human needs unmet by the current system.

Learning, Growth, Personal Space, Reflection, Empathy, Harmony, Confort..

I appreciate your co- operation

Miss Kennedy

Dear Miss Kennedy,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback following your recent visit. We appreciate your observations and your concern for the wellbeing of our team, as well as your thoughtful reflections on the challenges of the current appointment system.

We recognise that the pressures of 10-minute consultations can be demanding for both patients and clinicians, and we share your commitment to ensuring that appointments allow for meaningful, empathetic, and thorough care. While national guidelines and operational constraints currently shape our scheduling, we are actively exploring ways to improve the balance between efficiency and patient-centred care—including advocating for systemic changes where possible.

Your feedback about the importance of personal space, reflection, and harmony resonates deeply, and we will ensure it is included in ongoing discussions about service design and staff wellbeing. If you would like to discuss this further or have additional suggestions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Thank you again for your constructive and compassionate input.

Best regards,

Practice Manager
