We had a beautiful experience after my husband injured himself with industrial equipment. He injured his right thumb and badly damaged the top of his ring finger on the same hand and lost a bit of bone. We went to Arbroath infirmary and were taken straight away.
The little nurse Corrine was fantastic and very calm and sweet. She explained all that was happening. She took my husband away to do the needful. All the nurses were fantastic and they also looked after me as I am not good with these things! They took photographs of the injury and sent them to plastic surgery at Ninewells hospital Dundee. They were advised of what to do and we then had to head straight to Ninewells as they could not stop the bleeding. Once again we were taken straight away.
My husband was looked at and kept in overnight and operated on the next day and got home in the evening. He was given all his medication and instructions of how and when to take it and a follow up appointment was a week later. The wound redressed and the stitches out on Friday past.
A very caring experience from excellent staff and very much appreciated.
My husband is now well on the mend thanks to all the care and attention. (Ps he is in his 80s and very experienced with machinery) and Corrine described him as calm and quiet and she said he told her - just stick a plaster on that!
"A very caring experience"
