In September of 2023 I was pregnant with my first baby and unfortunately developed preeclampsia. However due to the excellent care from my community midwives - Pip based at Bellyeoman GP and Laura based at Queen Margaret hospital - this was picked up very quickly.
I was admitted to the observations unit in the maternity ward at the Victoria hospital in Kirkcaldy and had my baby boy a week later being born at 32 weeks. He was then in the neonatal unit for 4 weeks and I cannot thank all the midwives, neonatal nurses and all the medical team who looked after us.
It was such a scary time, but made that bit easier with their care during both our stay in hospital. Especially Fiona my midwife who was with me during my emergency c-section and Rachel the neonatal nurse who was newly qualified however so knowledgeable and cared for my son exceptionally.
I was then lucky enough to also have and still do have great support from my health visitor, Tracy who has been so supportive and helped me greatly when I was suffering from postnatal depression.
I am so grateful for the wonderful care I received right through my pregnancy and on to the birth of my son who is now a happy healthy 19-month-old after arriving into the world that wee bit early.
