"A thank you for the EOL care my grampa received"

About: Ophthalmology / Ophthalmology Ward 28

(as a relative),

Yesterday we had to say goodbye to my grampa. He had been admitted to Ward 28 RVH the previous night and sadly deteriorated very quickly.

At the time of his passing my husband and i were able to be at his bedside.

There are no words to describe how beautiful and compassionate the staff were. I was very overwhelmed, and really didn't know what to do. They were very gentle and respectful. Both myself and my husband are NHS staff at another hospital - its funny how all training goes out the window when it's your own family.

We both agreed the entire Ward 28 staff seemed very in tune with each other and displayed grace and professionalism throughout - from the domestic, the HCAs, Nursing team and Doctors, thank for all that you did to keep our grampa comfortable in his final hours. Aleena, i am so very grateful for your kindness.

Dear Mejwing,

Apologies for my delayed reply, as I have been on leave, but I am the Service Manager for Ward 28 and I was incredibly touched and humbled when I read your very kind message to the staff on Ward 28.

Thank you so so much for taking the time to feedback to the Trust about your experience and I will of course pass this on to the Staff on Ward 28 and especially Aleena.

My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

Kind regards

Chris Thomas
