"Awful care"

Unfortunately I've had the experience of fvrh maternity service in three occasions.

My first baby was born in 2019. I had low lying placenta, was told it had moved but this was questioned numerous times after continual bleeding at the end of pregnancy. No one took my or the junior drs concerns seriously until I had a placental abruption and thankfully I was in hospital when this occurred. 

2023 I had a missed miscarriage and when I was scanned and told this was the case we were asked to wait in a separate room so someone could speak to us. About an hour later someone appeared to tell us we would get a phone call later they were too busy and it had taken so long to tell us this as they couldn't find us- I mean there are only one or two rooms people are put to wait in after getting this news. It was horrendous, totally dismissed after receiving devastating news with zero input from any health care professionals about what might happen next.

My second baby was born in 2024 by c section. The operation caused internal bleeding which should have really flagged when my BP was low and HR high on the postnatal ward however the dr asked if my heart felt like it was beating out of my chest and when I said no that was sufficient for no further investigation. After being discharged I phoned triage as my temperature had spiked to 42 and I was shaking uncontrollably with my hands and feet swelling and becoming severely unwell. I was advised to go to the pharmacy to get laxatives. I was told to stop taking my temperature. I said I needed to come back to hospital and was told if you must, it turned out I had an infection from the internal bleeding and sepsis. I was completely dismissed again. I needed blood transfusions and IV antibiotics. Had I not fought the case to go back to hospital who knows what the outcome would be but too often the outcome is fine so we accept there's no issue.

Whilst in fvrh one of the midwifes screamed at my husband for using the changing mat on the floor as they were in the way of the cot. Screamed. Screamed so loud another midwife ran in to check we were all OK. The way the midwife spoke to him was absolutely disgusting never mind after the continuous stress and trauma we had all been through.

I wish I had given birth elsewhere. There are plenty of fantastic midwifes and drs who are doing a great job but at the most vulnerable times of my life there are one or two who absolutely compounded that trauma.
