From my 8 week appointment right through to her last visit to us on day 7, Jen my named midwife was amazing! So supportive the whole way through, especially in the overdue days, coming out to the house to do a sweep over the weekend, calling and checking in when arranging appointments during those last few weeks of pregnancy. It was Jen who asked me my thoughts on a home birth at my 8 week appointment and I’m so glad that she did, as it made me really consider it and decided pretty quickly that we would go for a home birth this time around. All the community midwife’s that we met during my pregnancy were all brilliant, supportive and all seemed really excited as we waited for the home birth to come around.
On the day I gave birth the two midwives who came out to the house for my home birth - Fiona and Kizzy - were fantastic. It was such a lovely experience having them in our home as we welcomed our little boy into our family. They couldn’t have been anymore supportive during the birth, making me feel comfortable and encouraged the whole way through. They genuinely seemed so happy to be a part of our home birth experience. They not only made me feel so supported in my home birth experience but also interacted with my husband during the labour and our two other children when they were around before and after the birth. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience, it was honestly my favourite birth experience of the 3 I have had and the first 2 hospital births were already great experiences in themselves.
I would really recommend considering the home birth experience.
