"Care offered in Crosshouse Hospital"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Accident & Emergency Crosshouse Hospital / Combined Assessment Unit (CAU)

(as the patient),

On holiday in Spain, I took ill running a very high temperature and feeling completely fatigued. The hotel called a doctor, and he was alarmed enough to ambulance me to a private hospital in Malaga. After examination of bloods, urine and faecal samples, I was admitted for two nights. I managed to catch my flight home and thought the matter was at an end.

Three days later, I took ill again and was admitted to Crosshouse Hospital, Kilmarnock via its A&E Dept. After one night, I was moved to the Assessment Unit - a very nice single room with an invaluable ensuite. Throughout my stay (which was only 3 nights in all) staff treated me in a professional, friendly and respectful way. I'm not going to name anybody in case I forget someone and because I'm sure other staff would have been just as well trained. By "staff" I include everyone no matter their role in my care. The food was better than in the (expensive) private Spanish Hospital! I could not have asked for better care and want to thank them all. I was discharged on Friday and the next day, I received a phone call from a doctor to tell me that they had found something in one of my faecal tests and giving me advice re next steps. I am extremely impressed at the service I received. Thank you NHS.

Dear Da89

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience of the care provided within the Emergency Department and Combined Assessment Unit at University Hospital Crosshouse.

I am sorry that you required and admission to hospital after taking unwell whilst on holiday and then a further admission once you were back home. What an anxious and scary time this must have been for you. It is however great to know that you found all of our staff to be reassuring, friendly and professional whilst you were under their care.

When times are challenging, it’s always nice to hear such positive feedback from our patients and it will be my pleasure to share your kind comments with the wider Teams in both Departments. I know the staff there will all be delighted to receive this feedback and to know that you felt so well supported whilst you were under their care

Please accept my best wishes for your ongoing recovery and thank you once again for taking the time to acknowledge your care experience.

Kind Regards

Pamela
