On holiday in Spain, I took ill running a very high temperature and feeling completely fatigued. The hotel called a doctor, and he was alarmed enough to ambulance me to a private hospital in Malaga. After examination of bloods, urine and faecal samples, I was admitted for two nights. I managed to catch my flight home and thought the matter was at an end.
Three days later, I took ill again and was admitted to Crosshouse Hospital, Kilmarnock via its A&E Dept. After one night, I was moved to the Assessment Unit - a very nice single room with an invaluable ensuite. Throughout my stay (which was only 3 nights in all) staff treated me in a professional, friendly and respectful way. I'm not going to name anybody in case I forget someone and because I'm sure other staff would have been just as well trained. By "staff" I include everyone no matter their role in my care. The food was better than in the (expensive) private Spanish Hospital! I could not have asked for better care and want to thank them all. I was discharged on Friday and the next day, I received a phone call from a doctor to tell me that they had found something in one of my faecal tests and giving me advice re next steps. I am extremely impressed at the service I received. Thank you NHS.
