"We were so well looked after from start to finish"

About: Royal Hospital for Children (Glasgow) / Accident & Emergency University Hospital Hairmyres / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

My son had a freak accident at the park and we had to attend Hairmyres hospital A&E and he turned out to have a lacerated spleen.

From start to finish I cannot fault a single member of staff. We were treated quickly and efficiently and every single member of staff was so kind and compassionate, from the reception right through to discharge.
We had to be transferred to Glasgow children’s hospital and the same level of care continued there.
We were so well looked after from start to finish and would just like all the staff involved in his care to know how much we appreciated the care and attention we were given.

Amidst all the negative stories about the nhs I wanted the staff to know that it’s not all negative.

When the system works it works amazingly well and we are very grateful for it.

Thank you!

Dear mugwuffin

Thank you for sharing your positive feedback regarding the care your son received after he had an accident in the park. What a worrying time for you and of course your son. I hope that he is recovering well.

I will pass your feedback on to the wider team as they will be pleased to read that you felt that care was efficient, kind and compassionate. We do often hear about the negative aspects of the NHS, but equally can learn when things go well. Thank you again.

Kind regards and best wishes to you both

Lise

Dear mugwuffin

Thank you so much for sharing your experience during what must have been a frightening and stressful time for you and your son.

We're incredibly glad to hear that you received such timely, compassionate, and coordinated care—from the A&E team at Hairmyres Hospital through to the specialist care at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow. Your kind words mean a great deal to the staff across both hospitals, and we’ll make sure your message is passed on to those involved in your son’s care.

It’s especially appreciated that you’ve taken the time to highlight the positives and recognise the dedication and professionalism of our NHS teams. Stories like yours remind us all of the importance and impact of compassionate healthcare, and your gratitude will certainly lift the spirits of the staff who were there for your family.

We wish your son a smooth and full recovery, and thank you again for your thoughtful message it really does mean a lot to the staff.

Kind regards

Kevin
