In the beginning, breastfeeding wasn’t the gentle, natural experience I had imagined. My baby struggled to latch, and despite using a nipple shield, she wasn’t gaining weight the way she needed to. I found myself expressing milk eight times a day, bottle feeding around the clock just to help her gain strength. We had to supplement with formula as well as my milk supply had dipped due to all thee worry and anxiety surrounding my babies weight gain. At that point, I truly thought my breastfeeding journey had come to an end before it had really begun.
For three weeks, I was exclusively pumping and bottle feeding. Then everything changed when I went to see Amanda. Her support, knowledge, and unwavering encouragement helped me find the strength to keep going. And in what felt like a small miracle, my baby latched—without a shield.
From that moment, I started to slowly phase out the expressing. And this week, for the first time, I am exclusively breastfeeding. No more bottle top-ups. I’m still expressing here and there, but now it’s just to build a little freezer stash.
I truly couldn’t have done it without Amanda’s support. Her commitment to my journey made all the difference. What felt like an ending became a new beginning, and I’m so proud of how far we’ve come.
