"Staff made the whole time less stressful"

About: Royal Hospital for Children (Glasgow) / Accident & Emergency Royal Hospital for Children (Glasgow) / Acute Receiving Unit (Ward 2c) Royal Hospital for Children (Glasgow) / Clinical Decision Unit

(as a parent/guardian),

I attended A&E at the children’s hospital after being referred by my GP with my 8 week old baby. He was vomiting and struggling with a cough. We were quickly triaged by a friendly nurse and seen in majors by a great female doctor who really listened to me and did a thorough check of my baby.

We were sent to the CDU for further monitoring. ANP Suzie (or possible Sue!) was excellent and explained exactly what the concern was, what was being monitored and possible treatment. Student nurse Claire looked after us and was very friendly and helpful answering any questions.

We were admitted to ward 2C where my little boy had a feeding tube inserted by nurse Lauren - Lauren is a fantastic nurse and made the experience so much less worrying by explaining what was happening and checking in on us.

We were looked after during the day on both days we were in by Angela. Angela was also fantastic, she was always exactly on time with my little boys feeds and you could tell she really cared. She was also very friendly which made the whole time less stressful.

All in, every nurse, student nurse and doctor I came across was professional and helpful.

Dear nadia95

Thank you so much for sharing your experience on Care Opinion. We’re so pleased to hear that your little one received such attentive and compassionate care during your visit to A&E, CDU, and Ward 2C. It’s wonderful to hear that the team, including the nurses, doctors, and student nurses, were able to provide reassurance and thorough care for both you and your baby.

We’ll make sure to pass on your kind words to ANP Suzie, Nurse Lauren, Angela, Student Nurse Claire, and the rest of the team. They’ll be truly touched to know they made a difference in your experience.

Thank you for your trust in the NHS, and we wish your little one a speedy recovery.

Kind regards

Kevin
