I received a phone call from the Forfar vaccination centre I found quite upsetting, sternly told that I was not supposed to have been vaccinated, wrong cohort. While this may have been the case, I was totally unaware that I had done something wrong. I am asthmatic, have SVT, currently caring for an elderly husband dealing with the after effects of chemoradio for head and neck cancer, I was hospitalised at Christmas with Flu A, Covid and atrial flutter.
I looked into the possibility of being eligible for the Spring vaccine and was able to book for Forfar then read online that Brechin were doing drop-in vaxxes. I called NHS Tayside to ask if I could cancel Forfar and attend Brechin, told that NHS Tayside would cancel my appointment in Forfar, attend Brechin with my appointment detail, did this and received my vaccination, all done by the book.
To receive an unwanted phone call at home questioning my suitability was upsetting and not very professional. If I had been told at the outset that I was not eligible I would have gone to Boots in the High St for a booster and happily paid the fee.
