"Excellent team"

About: Northern Ireland Blood Transfusion Service

(as a service user),

I went to donate blood this week for the first time in a while. I hadn’t booked an appointment but the location was on my way home.

I arrived at peak time, unsure if I’d be faced with a long wait or maybe even refusal.

To my surprise, the lady at reception took me straight through to two lovely nurses. My health screening took less than two minutes, and when I arrived into the main hall, I was taken for donation straight away.

The HCA taking my blood was called Davy while the nurse was called Emma.

I couldn’t have faulted my experience. Both members of staff made me feel so at ease. Davy talked to me the whole time and was so friendly. All other staff were busy keeping the area clean and tidy and restocking in between patients. As I passed through the different stations, I think all staff on shift must have said hello to me. The whole donation process probably took only half an hour, and I felt so well cared for throughout.

Thank you to the excellent team, I will definitely be back.
