"Staff attitudes on the ward"

About: Antrim Area Hospital / Ward C1 Gynaecology

(as the patient),

As a woman with young daughters, I was appalled when I heard 2 of the healthcare staff talk in what I thought was a very nasty at the nurses station about one of the the more junior members of staff on the ward, I also have a daughter in this same role, and would be appalled if it was my fighter they were talking about.

I am upset, shocked and frustrated at the matter that I didn’t say anything to them.  It was horrible behavior I seen on this ward which for the type of ward I thought all staff would be inclusive and I am personally very disappointed to write this but feel it is necessary as this part of my experience was not nice.

Hello Popp.12,

My name is Brenda, I am the interim Lead Nurse for Gynaecology Antrim & Causeway.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience while in Gynae Ward, Antrim. It is regretful that this happened, as we aim to promote a safe and inclusive workforce where we support all members of the team. I would like to express apologies on behalf of the staff, please be assured I have addressed this with all staff and Ward Manager. This is unacceptable behaviour. I have asked that staff speak with the management team if they have concerns.

If you would like to contact me to discuss further my number is 07768777237.

Best wishes,

Brenda
