I have found the breast care nurses to be helpful and supportive during my treatment.

Breast cancer treatment can be a long process and there are periods when you feel low or just have questions. It is great to be able to talk  to someone who knows what you are talking about and can give you some info and allay some of the fears.

I have met some excellent breast care nurses and would like to thank them for their help. I feel I would have gone crazy without their help!

My suggestion for improvement would be to have them available at weekends when it is so hard to get in contact with a medical professional. I know this involves more cost to the hospital but I am sure I am not the only person who has struggled with anxiety over a weekend. The help and support of the breast care team would have been so appreciated!

Dear Flowerlovet,

Thank you for taking the time to share your story. I am so pleased that the Breast Clinical Nurse Specialists have been so helpful and supportive during your treatment.

We really appreciate your suggestion about introducing an out-of-hours service and we understand how valuable this could be for those that need support outside our usual working hours. During working hours, we will do our best to return your call within 24 hours, but outside of these hours, if you do ever need someone to talk to, you could access the support available via Breast Cancer Now. At present, we unfortunately don’t have the funding to extend our service in this way. However, your comment highlights an important need and it may be something that we can explore in the future.

With very best wishes and thanks again.
