"Bi-lateral Hernia Operation"

About: Grantham & District Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

I was recently admitted to Grantham hospital to have a bilateral inguinal hernia repair. Whilst nervous about the procedure, the staff at Grantham quickly allayed my fears and their professional and caring approach quickly settled my nerves.

Without exception, the medical staff and their support workers were exceptional.  Nothing was too much trouble and they kept me informed throughout my time in hospital.

The only exception to this perhaps would be the Padre that visited the recovery ward.  Whilst they had the best intentions I'm sure, they spent an inordinate time in the middle of the ward talking loudly with an auxiliary support worker, whilst everyone in the ward was trying to rest following their operations.  Ultimately they left without speaking to any patients.

Thank you for taking the time to send in your comments. I can share with the Padre for you and say that maybe it wasn’t the right time to come and visit when patients are post op when you are trying to rest.

The staff will be thrilled that you have sent in your journey with us as they work so hard to try and make it as comfortable as they can and allaying any fears you may have and as Matron for the hub, to hear they were professional and caring, also boosts my morale.

I hope you are recovering well

Take care

KR

Julie
