"Experiencing extreme fatigue"

About: Countywide Community Care Service Delivery Unit / Integrated Neurology Service Worcestershire Royal Hospital / Neurology

(as the patient),

I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2017 and have been relatively stable and active until the last year when I have experienced extreme fatigue, muscle weakness and collapses at home from which I could not get myself up off the floor I needed help getting off the toilet and out of the shower. I didn't have the energy to stand in the shower for as long as I wanted or stand to brush my teeth for as long as I wanted.

For the first time I felt dependant on others and at the mercy of my condition. My loss of independence was heartbreaking. I could not even get around a small ms food hall to pick up a ready meal with all the accompanying sides.

Hi Lilah

I was sorry to hear how MS fatigue has affected your day to day life. I don't know if you have already used the MS Society Fatigue Management resources including their online course but many patients have benefited. I think it is important that you make contact with your MS Nurse Specialist to arrange support on managing your MS Fatigue symptoms. Please take care and thank you for your posting.
