"Fantastic care"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Emergency Department Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Trauma Unit 1 & 2

(as a service user),

Bitten by dying cat. Cleaned hand after returning from vets . Woke in middle of night with swollen throbbing hand  and red marks running up arm. Rang 111 sent to Barncoose Community Hospital, sent from there to Treliske . Admitted through A&E to emergency trauma unit.

Due to the overwhelming number of people needing treatment there was a long unavoidable wait in a lounge area where everyone was kept supplied with water to drink. Was found a bed on the emergency medical ward as no room on trauma ward. That made no difference whatsoever to the fantastic care I received from every single member of staff. A massive Thank you to each and everyone of them.

Treliske Hospital appears to be overwhelmed by the sheer number of people who turn up needing urgent medical care in Cornwall. The staff there work under an unending high  level of pressure . All working  flat out to provide safe and effective care for everyone who really needs it.

I received IV antibiotics and had my hand cleaned out in the theatre.

Everyone involved in my care gave their 100% best in everything to both myself and everyone else on the ward

I’m home recovering now and just wanted to say thank you, Treliske.

Dear earthrz58

Thank you very much for taking the time to share this positive feedback with us following your recent admission. My name is Natasha Andrews, and I am the Governance Manager for Trauma & Orthopaedics.

I am so pleased to hear that you received such fantastic care during your recent admission. It sounds like you were well looked after, even when you had a long wait to be seen, which I can only apologise for. Thank you for being so understanding.

I will make sure that your comments are passed onto the teams involved. It's always lovely to hear directly from the patients themselves and they will be very thankful.

Best wishes for your continued recovery

Natasha

I work in the Emergency Department as a Sister. I support a team of nurses and doctors in delivering emergency care. I co-manage performance and conduct with the ED senior team in line with local and national policies. I believe that maintaining contact post attendance with our services users is really beneficial. Gaining your valuable feedback can help us create changes so we can deliver the best service we can.
