Elderly family member having issues with memory and episode of delirium. Left home intending to get bus to visit family but forgot where they were going. Walked in opposite direction across extremely busy main road and through woodland ended up at home they lived in over 23 years ago. Fortunately a neighbour they knew got them home safely. Family didn’t find out about this until later on. This was a scary time. I contacted assistive technology who came out to home and assessed the situation. Gave advice on what could be done to keep our family member safe. A GPS tracker is now in place. Two recent episodes of scam calls saying that they were from bank and that money had been taken out of account managed to get card details but fortunately card was cancelled and new one sent out. Darren from assistive technology referred on to True call who came out today to fit device to stop scam calls. Very reassuring. GP referred family member to social care who quickly got in touch and we are having community alarm fitted. All the staff we have spoken with are all kind, caring and professional. As a family we are grateful for their support. Reassuring at a difficult time.
