"Discharge from hospital"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Oncology

(as a relative),

My Brother was taken to Treliske with hypercalcemia, he was very poorly, and needed transfusions.. I was phoned a little before 11pm and asked to collect him and bring him home (he lived with me) I said that wasn't possible and I would collect him first thing the next morning..

I woke at 6am and found my brother sitting in the garden in his dressing gown shivering with the cold (beginning of april) having been sent home at 3 am in a taxi!!

He could not get in.. he was totally confused and still very poorly... he had terminal cancer, you knew this and still you treated him in this appalling manner... I'm disgusted with the way he was treated.. he passed away a few months ago, after making me promise that I would never let anyone take him to Treliske again... I kept my promise to him, despite him needing treatment he never set foot inside that hospital again

Hello Whey whey,

My name is Chris and I am from the Patient Engagement Team. We would like to thank you for taking the time to share this very upsetting experience.

We are so sorry to hear of what happened to your brother and would like to investigate this terrible experience. Please could you contact the Patient Experience Team (Complaints) on rcht.patientexperience@nhs.net or 01872 252793 so that they can log the details and register the complaint for investigation.

We really wish to support you to find out why this happened.

Kind regards and deepest sympathy,

Chris
