"Providing a Stool Sample For Analysis"

About: General practices in Fife NHS Fife

(as the patient),

I was asked to provide a stool sample for analysis as part of an investigation into a possible Helicobacter Pylori Infection.

The Sample Bottle (Blue Top with spoon built into the screw-top lid) is supposed to be filled up to 2/3 Capacity (according to written instructions supplied).  This instruction flies in the face of standing instructions for these receptacles (e.g. in Bowel Cancer Screening) where you are asked to only fill the spoon.

The reason I am raising this is that it is unreasonable in the extreme to expect Patients to fill the Sample Bottle to 2/3 capacity owing to it having such a woefully inadequate opening. If this latest instruction is to endure then it is beholden on NHS Fife to provide larger Receptacles in order enable Patients to comfortably accede to the request to provide a Stool Sample that fills 2/3 of the Sample Bottle.
