"Maternity care pre, during and post partum"

About: Borders General Hospital / Maternity care

(as the patient),

Whilst pregnant, I was under the care of an excellent midwife, Annie . She totally nailed patient centred care, I very much felt listened to and as though I had genuine agency over my decisions relating to care my unborn baby and I received. She could explain everything so well and in as much detail as I needed.

Once an inpatient for planned C-section, the care continued to be of such a high standard. I find the prospect of any operation pretty terrifying, but when its for something so precious as a birth, (a birth I had never imagined I would be so passive in) it was all the more heightened. But the theatre team were both professional and slick whilst being very human and making me feel as comfortable as possible. Again I had an excellent midwife here too, and on the wards subsequently. I am so grateful for your work and care.
