"My son's admission"

About: Royal Victoria Hospital / Cardiac surgery Royal Victoria Hospital / General Surgery

(as a parent/guardian),

My son was recently admitted to the RVH for surgery to correct his Pneumothorax. From start to finish we had fantastic care. I’d like to especially mention nurses Ruth, Yvonne, Julie, Joanne, Hazel and the lovely agency nurse who was on night shift for two nights with us whose name I can’t recall. They were brilliant, so caring, they really helped my son feel at ease. We also had a good laugh which was great medicine. Thanks to all the staff of Ward 5A and to the surgeons who did a great job!

Good morning Aisling479

My Name is Una Delargy, Business Support Officer for Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast.

Thank you for taking the time to communicate with us through Care Opinion. This is a really useful tool for us to share experiences and learning with patients so that we can hear about your treatment and care and continue to strive to provide the best possible care for all our patients.

First of all, I am delighted that your son is recovering well from his Pneumothorax correction and has received such excellent care from all in Ward 5A especially Ruth, Yvonne, Julie, Joanne and Hazel. I will also make sure and extend this thanks to the agency nurse who was on Ward 5A over the 2 nights your son was an inpatient. It is so positive to hear that you and your son felt at ease during his stay and that everything went smoothly.

I have to agree - that a good laugh is always great medicine!

I will also ensure that both your story and appreciation is shared with all staff within Ward 5A including the surgical team, all of whom work extremely hard everyday to provide the highest levels of patient care.

We welcome these very positive comments as it is great not only for all staff to feel appreciated but also extremely encouraging for them to be acknowledged for making a profound difference for our patients during their treatment and hospital stay.

Finally, I would like to wish your son a full continued recovery and once again thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.

Take Care & Best Wishes

Una
