Recently I was in for a few weeks in the Ulster Hospital maternity department for the birth of my twins. I was in for a week before and a week after they were born.
From admission to discharge I could not fault how we were looked after. All the midwives, health care staff and domiciliary staff on the maternity ward were fantastic. I had a C section and despite being a worrying time with one of my girls going to NICU, throughout the section the doctors, midwives and especially the anaesthetists made me feel we were all in safe hands. One of the paediatric doctors in particular was amazing with my girls and despite not being able to hold one of them, he made sure I could hold her hand before going to NICU. This was a very hard time but I knew she was in safe hands.
I can’t highlight enough how much respect I have for the staff, especially in the theatre, at how well they carry out their jobs and how at ease they put myself and my husband during what could have been a very worrying time.
