In short I was taken to ward 24 from CDU, the care and treatment I received was well below what I would expect, as I write this I feel angry and upset and still very unwell.
I was sent to CDU due to being very unwell with fast heartbeat, breathing difficulties, and my body in a way not working properly.
During my time at both CDU & ward 24 I was given the wrong diagnosis (told sorry it was other patients scan ). On ward 24 (for the 2nd time) I was told I had a very small blood clot, my husband at this point asked what the plan was for this, at this point another doctor came and said sorry you don’t have a blot clot. Turns out they were looking at the wrong scan (happened in CDU too ) or have they got it wrong? I am still unwell with a heart rate of 100 plus, even at resting normally 76.
Going back to ward 24 I was told I might go home on the Thursday, by the same doctor but then within 1/2 hour I was told my calcium was seriously low and needed to go on a drip for 6 hours and I won’t be going home
I have never felt the need to leave anything but great feedback but on this occasion I feel that the level of care was well below what to expect.
I have now been out of hospital for over a week (I have been unwell for the last 7 weeks). I was told I have bronchitis but I feel am left to defend myself, am still very short of breath, very bad chest, heart rate always 100 plus (normal for me around 76/78, can’t go back to work because of how I am, seen my own GP since being discharged by ward 24 at Glenfield Hospital and unfortunately was just told to rest and if symptoms get worse to go A & E.
Overall, I feel more should have been done for me during my time in both CDU and ward 24
Myself and my husband along with our children are all worried because am still the same, and far from how I am normally.
Just to add this all started 7 weeks ago, woken up one night and couldn’t breath/cough all out of the blue, and since then I’ve stayed the same
Overall I feel more tests, even a heart scan and other tests should have been done within my time in hospital, I feel like they need the bed and home you go. To be left in the same heath condition in which I was admitted for is wrong, given the wrong results twice is serious and to be told I can go home then put on a drip within half hour is again like being misdiagnosed,
What happens now am unsure, I no longer have any idea who to turn to or ask for help, I just feel so let down, this was the NHS at the very worst, sorry I normally and have always left positive feedback but on this occasion I just can’t.
