Visiting the eye clinic on a regular basis, for Glaucoma I find that sometimes I have two appointments in the same week. Travel to the hospital consists of a round trip of 50 miles each appointment. Obviously this amounts to 100 miles in one week. Surely these two appointments could be organised on one day. I used to do this at a previous hospital  without any problem. I have recently received another two appointments  for a Tuesday and a Wednesday, same week again. I also have to travel to the same clinic to bring my Wife when necessary.

Dear Marlinman

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience of the care provided within the Ophthalmology Service, University Hospital Ayr.

I am sorry to learn that your routine appointments for the eye clinic are sometimes scheduled on different days of the same week, resulting in you having to make lengthy repeat journeys to University Hospital Ayr. I appreciate that this situation must be very frustrating for you, however it is difficult for us to look into specific concerns raised in this way as Care Opinion is completely anonymous.

There will be a contact telephone number on the appointment letters for your forthcoming appointments. If you call this number, quoting your CHI number (which will be on the letter), there may be a way to move your appointments onto the same day

Please also mention this to the eye clinic receptionist on your next visit to see if there is any possibility of scheduling your appointments on the same day in the future. I am sure they will do what they can to accommodate this request, particularly as you face a 50 mile round trip for each appointment.

I do hope we are able to sort this out for you and thank you once again for taking the time to acknowledge your care experience.
