"I was able to go about as I pleased"

About: Slieve Roe House

(as the patient),

So my son and daughter-in-law could get a short break, it was arranged for me to stay in Slieve Roe House. I've been living with them for the last 13 years and normally a member of family would come over from England to stay with me, while they were away. This year that has been harder for my other son and two daughters to do, and my grandson was out of the country at the time.

Initially, I was nervous about going somewhere strange, but the staff at Slieve Roe House made me feel at home, and I was able to go about as I pleased. I had the chance to talk with other residence at mealtimes and there were activities put on to keep us entertained. Sometimes I was happy to simply read my book or go for a short walk. It was all very pleasant. The week flew in and I had made friends with the staff and other clients. There were six staff members waving me off when my son came to pick me up at the end of my staff. I felt happy and safe. And the staff were lovely. I'm looking forward to my next stay during the Summer.
