"From the moment I arrived I felt so welcomed"

About: Antrim Area Hospital / EOU Emergency Obstetric Unit

(as the patient),

I am 30+5 weeks pregnant and attended the EOU due to a prolonged abdominal pain.

I first spoke with a midwife on the phone who advised to take pain relief and call back to let them know if it had settled or not. The pain had subsided but I was still aware of an uncomfortable feeling, when I called back, the midwife suggested I come up for a tracing and reassurance, I was hesitant about this initially as I didnt want to be taking up their time if it wasn't urgent.

From the moment I arrived I felt so welcomed, nothing was an inconvenience to them. After the tracing I seen a doctor who completed all necessary examinations and totally took away any concerns I had.

They were both very reassuring and made me feel really comfortable, I was happy I attended and received exceptional care, it was genuinely a lovely experience.

Unfortunately I can't remember their names but I attended late evening in mid April 2025.

I am glad to read that you felt reassured and relaxed whilst attending the EOU department and that you received exceptional care. I will ensure that your review is shared with the doctors and midwives working in the department.
