I went for a regular cervical screening test at a surgery linked to my own surgery. For this reason I am unsure of their names. I was seen by a nurse, who then asked a GP to look too. They referred me on a two week wait system to have a colposcopy for further investigation at the gynaecology department in my local hospital. They were so friendly and put me at ease, stating that the referral was nothing to worry about as these things are more than likely normal but a small percentage are not and, therefore worth getting checked.
This was a Friday. Then on the Monday morning I received a phone call to book my appointment and this was made for two weeks to the day of my cervical screening test. I was seen on time and three nurses and a trainee put me completely at ease, laughing and joking through the investigation and local anaesthetic and treatment. It took my mind off the procedure and I was out and on my way in half an hour.
The whole process from my cervical screening test to the treatment two weeks after and all involved was fantastic. Can’t praise the NHS enough. The staff are so caring and kind and can reassure anyone going through the same thing at the same place again.
