"My son's injury"

About: Antrim Area Hospital / Accidents & Emergency Mid-Ulster Hospital / Minor Injuries Unit

My son had a bad tackle at football & complained with a sore foot afterwards. It was swollen & red.

At 9pm we took him to Antrim A&E, where 30 people were waiting. We waited for 5 hours, to be told it would be another few hours.

The next morning we contacted Mid Ulster Hospital - Minor Injuries Unit. Got an appointment for 10.20am and was seen and left at 10.35am.

Very quick service & people should be more aware of this to allow less stress on other northern health and social care trusts.

Hello Janine463

My name is Victoria McCrory and I am the Assistant Clinical Services Manager for MUH MIU. I am sorry to hear that your son has recently sustained an injury and had to attend MUH MIU for assessment and treatment.

The main EDs have been under sustained pressures for a prolonged period of time and the MUH MIU is a fantastic service, which enables minor injuries to be assessed and treated in a timely manner, whilst taking some pressure from the Emergency Departments.

I am delighted to read that whilst attending the MUH MIU you and your son had a positive experience. I will ensure this feedback is shared with the staff in the unit, as it helps boost staff morale and remind them of the fabulous work they do.

I hope your son has a strong, speedy recovery.

Yours Sincerely

Victoria McCrory
