"Drop off Hearing Aid Repair Service"

About: Lanarkshire Community Services / Audiology

(as a service user),

On Wednesday evening, my right hearing aid failed. On Thursday morning, I contacted the Audiology Help Line to seek an appointment to have it repaired ASAP, as it makes a big difference to me having my two aids working. People who have two hearing aids will testify to that.

I informed the Department of my predicament. The very helpful lady explained that I could have an appointment at the soonest in Cumbernauld Health Centre on the 24th April 2025. I was pleased, expecting the queue to be much longer.

The Lady then informed me of a new scheme that was on the go. 'Hearing Aid Drop Off Repair Service' and explained how it works. She stated that if I wish, I could take my hearing aid to Cumbernald Central Health Centre and drop it off at the Main Reception, complete a form with my details and phone contact number. I informed the Lady, thanked her for making me aware of the scheme, and said I would drop the Aid off in the afternoon.

At 3pm, I dropped the Aid off, completed the form, and handed it over to the receptionist. As I walked away, I saw a Lady from the hearing aid department staff walk over to the reception desk and saw the Hearing Aid package being handed over to her. I made my way home and went into the garden to trim some bushes. At 3:30 pm, my wife called me into the house. She informed me that I had to go to the Central Health Centre Reception to collect my hearing Aid.

What a new Service! I had resigned myself to being without my hearing aid for 4 days, and I had it returned in 45 minutes. I'm out over the weekend photographing two charity events and wasn't looking forward to doing it with just one hearing aid.

I'm aware I must have done the right things at the right time to get my hearing aid back so soon. That said, I was pleased with your new Service, getting it returned in around 4 days and not having to wait for an appointment.

Credit where it is due to the team who are always problem-solving to make your Service better.

A very pleased patient.
