I opted to attend this hospital as an out of area patient as I live over 150 miles away and haven't had great past experiences in other NHS hospitals as an autistic patients.
Previous hospitals and hospital trusts I have accessed have not been able to communicate efficiently, provide adequate information and to treat autistic patients (without learning difficulties) with the respect and consideration we deserve. This includes many of the consultants seen within these Trusts.
I became desperate and chose Royal Berkshire and I am so pleased I did.
From minute one their organisation, reliability and flexibility has been first class in terms of meeting my communication needs - ie answering emails promptly and meeting my information accessibility needs - ie responding promptly with the information I needed and requested.
Any issue with regards needing to rearrange appointments has been done swiftly, without bureaucracy and accurately.
All done with the utmost professionalism and understanding.
All the staff I encountered and the consultant I saw at RBH (dermatology) were amazingly helpful, engaging, happy and friendly and made me feel valued, listened to and in good hands.
I have to go back for another appointment with urology in July and I am so happy I have finally found an NHS hospital that cares about the experience of autistic patients.
The previous trusts I have accessed have been utterly appalling and I can never forgive them.
Full credit to the CEO of RBH.
Thankyou RBH!!
"Thanks for the reliability & flexability"
