"Long wait to be dismissed"

About: Sexual Health Services - North Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent (Open Clinic)

(as the patient),

I got there when the clinic opened for an implant removal. I had my observations taken within 30 minutes. They had my file open as they knew my height already.

I waited nearly 4 hours to be seen. There was no access to water or vending machines. The radiators were on despite it being hot outside and i was sat on hard plastic chairs despite having uterine surgery recently. I couldn't step outside for a walk as there was no call number provided.

Once I was seen, I was dismissed within minutes and refused the removal as have an arrhythmia. They would've seen my file when I got there. My GP sent me here as they had no availability.

I missed half a day of work for nothing and spent the night vomiting from the pain and stress. I was told a gyno consultant would call me but was given no date as to when.

I currently have two contraceptives in my body and need one removing asap.

Dear Gatsby312,

Thank you for leaving feedback on your experience. I am so sorry you had a 4 hour wait. Our walk ins are very busy and I empathise this can be frustrating when taking time from work to then not have the procedure completed.

We sadly don't have vending machines in smaller NHS facilities, however we will happily give water to those who request it.

Please reach out to me if you have not yet heard from us regarding your appointment and I will chase this for you, equally happy to discuss any of your concerns in more depth should you wish to.

Kind regards

Leanne Fowler
