"Prolonged diagnosis, inefficient care, lengthy follow up appointment dates, prolonged treatment"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / General Surgery

(as the patient),

I made an official complaint to Wishaw patient affairs at the end of December 2024.

They concluded this complaint in late February 2025 basically with inaccurate information about me and my health history.

Whilst they concluded their investigation and said this was final i was offered the opportunity to ask questions/ information regarding their decision.

The following day,  I asked 8 questions regarding inaccuracies.

I have since emailed patient affairs twice and had no response.

Please explain why I am being ignored.

I was told they would have to investigate,  yet the investigation was carried out prior to final response.

Dear andromedady49,

Thank you for sharing your experience of Patient Affairs.

I am sorry to hear that following the letter concluding your complaint you still had some questions and raised these, only to not receive a response back as yet. As these are new questions pertaining to the original concern, please could I ask that you contact the Patient Affairs team on patientaffairs@lanarkshire.scot.nhs.uk confirming your ID reference number on the top right hand side of the letter you received, and the specific questions you would like answered? Once this has been received, it will be passed to the appropriate Patient Affairs manager to review and process as appropriate.

You would be welcome to contact the Scottish Public Services Ombudsman, of course, however they would not respond to new questions raised out with the scope of the initial complaint, and so you would be directed back to the Patient Affairs team.

Best Wishes,

Jenni
