"Pregnancy and midwife care"

About: Perth Royal Infirmary / Community Midwifery Unit

(as the patient),

Not a positive experience. Lots of technical and admin issues, meaning missed appointments and scans. I’ve had to do lots chasing and organising myself and my midwife is unresponsive most of the time. It has left me with little confidence in the support I will receive when in labour.

Dear funnyrc99

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us via the care opinion platform. My name is Lee-Anne Abel, Senior midwife for inpatient maternity services.

I am sorry to hear that you are having real challenges with your antenatal care experience. This is not the experience we hope people accessing our service would have.

Care opinion is an anonymous feedback platform and for this reason you are not identifiable via your feedback. I would really like to be able to understand your concerns more fully and seek solution to the concerns you have raised. This will allow us the opportunity to provide a more tailored response for you that feels specific to your concerns.

If you would like to share your feedback with our patient experience team you can write, telephone our email our patient experience team:

Telephone: 0800 027 5507

Email: TAY.feedback@nhs.scot

Write: Patient Experience Team, Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, DD 1 9SY

Our maternity teams are here to support you throughout your pregnancy, birth and postnatal experience and without hearing your experience and learning from it we cannot improve this for you or others accessing our services.

I would like to reassure you that access to advice in early labour will be supported via our triage assessment team or the midwifery team caring for you if you are planning to have a baby in a local community maternity unit. Our teams are there to support you during labour and birth to make your care experience the best it possibly can be.

In the interim if you have any pregnancy related issues that feel urgent and cannot wait please do not hesitate to call our maternity triage team 01382 632075.

Best Wishes,

Lee-Anne Abel

Senior Midwife
