I went to speak to a GP about my hormones affecting my mood, sleep, skin. I said I thought initially it could be perimenopausal symptoms or just general hormonal issues. The GP scoffed and said that menopause is hormones then mentioned it wouldn’t be perimenopause it would be early menopause.
I explained my symptoms and how they aligned with what I’d read about perimenopause. They scoffed and said that they don’t know what I had been reading. I kept trying to explain more and they would interrupt so I didn't really get a chance to say everything I wanted to. The GP said that they would normally treat my symptoms with a combined pill but wouldn’t due to my weight. Then they said they would have to go away and read further but was happy to dismiss what I had read.
I left feeling completely humiliated and upset.
