Ali came to see me at home after my stroke, if she hadn’t I wouldn’t have had the confidence to come to the course. She gave me hope at that point that things at home could be better.
The course was great, very inclusive and supportive. You feel vulnerable and a parenting failure when you attend these courses, I was concerned I might be judged by the teachers and my fellow students. I was totally wrong. Our group and teachers were supportive, reassuring, kind and empathetic.
I felt safe to speak even though my speech failed when I became emotional. I felt the group were honest and that’s why it worked, all facilitated by Ali and Matt. They created a non-judgemental environment, a safe space to say how we parent.
I learnt so much and quickly realised I wasn’t even achieving step one of the six bricks, but by completing the steps things have really improved at home. I have choices of ways to parent and react to a situation.
Thank you so much. My husband came to an evening course after work so we have both attended and tag team and support the six bricks when we see it. I am optimistic for the further now and for our families survival!
