"Recovery from addiction"

About: Addiction services / The Asha Centre

(as a service user),

I was admitted into Asha for a 3 week program because I was addicted to alcohol and I couldn't stop on my own. With the help of my keyworker and probation officer we decided that the Asha program would give me the best chance to start my addiction recovery.

On arrival all the staff and nurses were very welcoming and friendly which was good as I was quite nervous. Doctors and nurses wasted no time in doing all the necessary checks and tests etc for their information to keep me safe while there which continued throughout my stay.
The whole ward was very clean and tidy all day every day. The food was great, variety and plentiful plus it was good to get some tea and toast for supper from the night staff before bed. Domestic & catering staff were friendly and would ask how I was getting on etc which was really good. I was in a very small group at the time I was at Asha. All doctors and nurses were sure to do everything they could to give me the best advice and information so I would have what I needed for my addiction recovery. Medication was always on time.
I can't find anywhere in the Asha program that could have been improved.
I got exactly what I needed from my program at Asha and more. I believe I have everything I  need to stop my addiction plus I've discovered some underlying health problems that I have that can be treated now that I would not had known about if I didn't come to Asha. With working with Dr Kinch I now know of some areas in my life that I need to work on and heal from that will give me an even better chance to recover from my addiction. I know I beat my addiction and I will get my life back. Asha was perfect for me, I always felt safe and looked after.
Thank you.

Dear 'AK306'

I would like to thank you for your very kind feedback.

It is very understandable that you were nervous upon your admission to Asha, however it is very positive to hear that your anxiety was reduced by the welcome you received from the Asha staff.

We strive to promote a holistic model of health, and it was fortunate that we were able to pick-up on your physical health issues, which may have otherwise went undetected.

I will share your feedback with all Asha staff. I would also like to wish you all of the best in your journey towards continued abstinence and better health.
