"Weekend Ophthalmology"

About: Derriford Hospital / Ear, Nose and Throat Derriford Hospital / Paediatrics

(as a parent/guardian),

We waited over 6 hours on a Saturday for our 5 month old to see an  Ophthalmologist and in the end felt we had no other choice than to leave against medical advice. They were aware we had been admitted the previous evening through the paediatric A&E and an emergency appointment made. Every other department were fantastic but Ophthalmology was absent.

We were given no information, no timeline, no reason. Just told that the doctor was still in clinic.

 There's clearly an issue here.

Dear parent

I am sorry to hear about your experience.

The REI team asked whether, in order to give an accurate response, you could please contact our Patient Advice & Liaison Service (PALS) on 01752 439884, or email them at plh-tr.PALS@nhs.net to provide your child's personal information.

They are unsure whether you attended the main Emergency Department or the Urgent Care Department you see.

Please quote reference 82062 when getting in touch so that we can align any future contact from you with this posting.

Many thanks

Alison Stanton
