About: Andover War Memorial Hospital

Following a CT scan at at Andover which was in itself completed quickly and professionally i would like to comment on the preparation for the procedure.

Inserting the cannula is done in the reception area with no privacy from people waiting or entering the unit which when answering personal questions and the nurse having problems with inserting the cannula is embarrassing.

No toilet facilities are on site which considering the requirement to consume a large quantity of liquid before the scan is not helpful .

Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience. I am sorry to hear of the experience you had whilst having your scan.

I appreciate how uncomfortable this must have been for you. Our CT scanner was added at Andover in a standalone building in order that local patients could get a CT closer to home. We have now received additional funding to make it more permanent and to add a waiting area and toilet facilities in order to improve the patient experience. I am sorry this wasn’t in place for your visit, but the building work should happen over the next year to improve the experience for future patients.

If you would like to talk to us about this directly, then please contact PALS at PALSandcomplaints@hhft.nhs.uk or 01256 486766. Thank you once again for taking the time to share your experience.

Kind regards,

Alex Whitfield

Chief Executive
