I can only give feedback on my experience relating to my interactions with Ninewells Hospitals Sleep Apnoea Clinic and all the staff there since my initial visit over 5 years ago now and counting.
From the off i was really impressed with my evaluation and how clearly it was explained to me how my bad sleep apnoea was affecting my quality of life. I was assessed as being quite badly affected and given ResMed equipment, which i used diligently . I was asked back for routine reassessment and equipment replacement. I figured i would be hung out to dry by them with funding cuts and on my own but no! I was warmly welcomed when i returned asking for replacement materials and they duly obliged, it was quite refreshing and always they came up trumps. I can pick up a phone and leave a message (before cutbacks to their section i always got a human being) but still my ask for replacement parts, and it is super efficiently dealt with. Money is tight but this department needs to be kept in mind seriously as value for money with patients living longer and happier at what is actually comparably low investment.
I know this is a narrow field of the overall hospital's field of medicine but the respiratory department here are all happy, smiling and quick to react to patients comments. Early on i was unsure of my treatment path but now with all the help and breathing aids i can probably extend my life to be frank. I even have an app on my phone that reports back on my use of the equipment with for me, very effective results indeed. Please keep this department funded properly hospital management supervisors, as it is doing excellent work.
Sorry if this feedback is long winded but i don’t often give feedback but these guys and girls deserve respect for their good work and need to be valued .
P.S.
I have no spoon in the pot , no relatives or other vested interests in any way to the Sleep Apnoea and Respiratory departments. I just felt like giving a fair review of them all . :)
