I was lucky enough to have been referred to the psychology team via the long Covid clinic.
When I first started my appointments with the team I was at a high level of anxiety and stress due to work and family issues.
After each session I was given some areas to focus on such as coping skills, breathing techniques and being challenged with questions about “That scenario you have just described… how likely do you think it is that things will get to that level”… which made me realise I was thinking in extremes that were unlikely to become a reality. Once I stopped thinking about every single possible thing that could go wrong and became more present and mindful, my long Covid symptoms decreased noticeably.
I continued working with my therapist until I felt I had the skills and plans in place to deal with any large spikes in stress levels. I now feel more confident in my abilities and feel I have now removed most of the barriers that had come with my long Covid symptoms. Brain fog and fatigue are still a factor I need to deal with, but I know that with my considerate compassionate workplace and the skills I have learned in these sessions, I am started from a better place to deal with these challenges.
