My elderly frail mother was a patient on this ward recently for 9 days, having already spent 1 day in A and E.
I wanted to acknowledge how our family appreciated that staff listened and were very receptive to the issues we felt were important for our mother as she is totally deaf and cannot always communicate her needs .
Questions were answered and our concerns were responded to in a timely way. This helped in alleviating our mother’s anxiety and also the family’s at a time of substantial stress and worry .
Staff in A and E were also supportive .
Communication and interaction with those important to patients are essential to providing a positive caring experience for patients and family and I wanted to say staff concerned with my mother in both these departments warrant recognition .
"Staff listened and were very receptive"
