From start to finish, the care was exceptional. I was met by the anaesthetist, who explained everything clearly to me at my bedside. When taken to theatre, the ODP and nursing staff were so friendly. I loved being wheeled into theatre awake and then being put to sleep. It was reassuring and great to be introduced to everyone who was going to be involved in my surgery.
Post-op, huge shout out to Cheryl, a credit to the NHS. Friendly, chatty, and so patient and kind—thank you.
Every nurse in the post-op ward that night didn't stop. What I noticed was that some were unable to have their evening break due to meeting and prioritising the needs of unwell patients. In fact, myself and another patient were late to leave the ward (past their shift end time), and on leaving, I noticed that the staff still had beds to make up. It seemed terribly unfair that the staff give so much to others, prioritising patient care, staying later than their expected shift time, and yet even more demands are being placed on them.
